Summary

Papers and Correspondence, 1932-1938, 1951. Author, Superintendent of Aborigines in Darwin 1935-36. Xavier Herbert's first published novel Capricornia won the Commonwealth 150th Anniversary Prize in 1938. His later novels include Soldiers Women and Poor Fellow My Country. He was awarded the Miles Franklin Literary Award in 1976.

Diary, 1951. The Manuscripts of Capricornia, and the unpublished 'The Facts of the Publication of Capricornia for the Historical Record', and letters, mostly addressed to Arthur Dibley, written from February 1935 to August 1938 and covering the period when Capricornia was published and won the Sesquicentary Prize.
