Papers and Station Records, from the 1880s. Born in Ballymena, Ireland, McCaughey came to Australia in 1856, where he became involved in the pastoral industry, and in time was one of the country's wealthiest landholders. During his career he held some twelve stations in New South Wales, and three in Queensland, including Rockwood and Barenya in the Hughenden district. A large body of papers and station records of Sir Samuel McCaughey comprise 56 boxes and 52 volumes of journals and ledgers; they relate mainly to the period from the 1880s onwards.
