Summary

Journal 1861-1862. Police officer and explorer. Headed a relief party in search of Burke and Wills, which travelled west from Rockhampton in September 1861 to the Barcoo River, thence north to the Gulf of Carpentaria and returning via the settlement of Bowen in April 1862. Walker contracted fever while on a telegraph survey expedition from Cardwell to Burketown, and died at Floraville Station on the Leichhardt River in November 1866.
