Diary 1931. Diary entitled In Search of Work. Record kept by Tom Combey who set out from Brisbane in June 1931 during the great depression. His initial destination was Mount Isa, but on arrival there he found more than 500 unemployed already in the town. Combey's journey took him through southern Queensland and thence through the north and west of the state, including Barcaldine, Longreach, Winton, Hughenden, Richmond, Julia Creek, Cloncurry, Duchess, Mount Isa, Charters Towers, Townsville, Bowen, Collinsville and Mount Coolon. The diarist was secretary of the Unemployed Workers' Movement. A.B.L.
