Summary

The Institute has copied a large quantity of historical records including journals, diaries, ships' logs, correspondence, reports, memoirs, manuscripts etc, which include references to Aborigines. These have been taken from original sources held in government and church Archives, the major Australian Libraries and from private collections. These items are listed herewith, and where possible the location of the original record is included. The Collection includes a considerable volume of collected field notes, tapes, reports, language, music, completed papers, etc. By Institue researchers, whose papers have become part of the library collection. A selective listing of this material, most relevant to historical research, is included here; additional research collections and a large collection of theses, with more direct association with anthropology, are also held in the library.
