Summary

Historical papers. Francis Cumbrae-Stewart was born in New Zealand and studied law at Oxford. He was appointed Registrar Librarian and Professor of Law at the University of Queensland in 1925, and researched and wrote widely on law and history, particularly relating to Queensland. Many of his historical articles were published in serial form in Queensland newspapers. Historical papers relating to the Church of England in Queensland, 1919. one volume. Typescript. 'The Pioneering of the River Burdekin', 1895, pp.6. An account of the activities of the author's brother Edward Cunningham, during the north Queensland squatting rush of 1861. Covers the journey with G.E. Dalrymple from Rockhampton to Port Denison, March-April 1861, and then an expedition by a group of squatters, who selected land along the upper Burdekin River.
