Summary

Miscellaneous records. Pastoralist and public servant, Frank Jardine was the eldest son of John Jardine first Government Resident at Somerset from 1863. With his brother Alexander, Frank overlanded cattle from Rockhampton to Somerset in 1864-1865. In 1866 Frank founded a station near Somerset and served occasionally as Deputy Government Resident until 1878. He is a well known character in the history of Cape York and is buried near the beach at Somerset where he died in March 1919.
