Summary

Miscellaneous records. Pastoralist, explorer and civil servant, John MacDonald led three exploratory expeditions in north Queensland in 1860, 1861 and 1864. He managed Carpentaria Downs for a period to 1869 for Robert Towns, whereafter he was employed as a government official in various centres including Gilberton, Charters Towers, Bowen, Townsville and Springsure.
