Miscellaneous records. Scottish born pastoralist and explorer John McKinlay led several expeditions in Australia, including the South Australian Burke and Wills Relief Expedition of 1861-1862. His party crossed the continent to the Gulf of Carpentaria, then struck out for the new settlement of Bowen, which was reached in August 1862.
