An extensive collection comprising research material for his historical publications. Includes correspondence, shipping and emigration files, statistics and registers, archival and library primary source material, newspapers, periodicals, pamphlets and reviews, maps, charts and photographs. Also drafts and final manuscripts for publication. Major topics include shipping, (international and coastal), emigration, settlement schemes, convicts, penal settlements.
