Summary

Papers 1917-1918. Douglas Grant an Aboriginal of Atherton Queensland, enlisted on 6 January 1916 and served with the 13th Battalion, Australian Imperial Forces. During the period 1917-1918 Grant was president of the British Help Committee, and supervised the distribution of comforts to Indian prisoners inside the prisoner of war camp Halbmondlager, Wunsdorf, Zossen, Bei Berlin. Grant was repatriated on 22 December 1918, he returned to Australia on the Medic in June 1919 and was discharged from the army on 9 July 1919. Correspondence and notes, many in German, concerning the supplies of the clothing, food and medicine from such organizations as the British Help Committee, the British Red Cross and the Invalid Comforts Fund for Prisoners of War.
