Summary

Diary, 1872. Dr Thomas Tate was one of the survivors of the brig Maria which struck Bramble Reef off Hinchinbrook Island in 1871. In June 1872 he joined the government expedition to Cape York Peninsula led by William Hann, as expedition botanist and naturalist. Diary, 26 June-10 November 1872, of the expedition under the leadership of William Hann which explored lower Cape York Peninsula in 1872. An unfinished narrative, wanting the account of the last 2 days, 10-12 November. Original manuscript, pp.72+ 1, also typescript copy. MITCHELL: C.723.
