Sketches. On board H.M.S. Rattlesnake, made during survey of the passage between the Great Barrier Reef and the east coast of Australia, April 1848-November 1848. 43 pencil, two ink, 24 watercolour sketches, various sizes. None of the sketches are signed, 58 are dated, 60 are titled. Mostly land and seascapes, a small number depict Aborigines.
