Summary

Diary, sketchbook, 1846-1847. English born surveyor and explorer, second in command of Leichhardt's unsuccessful transcontinental expedition which left Brisbane in October 1848 bound for the Swan River. The exercise was marked by illness and personal quarrels and was terminated after eight months. Mann worked for the New South Wales Survey Department, 1848-ca.1875.
