Summary

Records 1866-1970. A Board of Management for the Brisbane Trades and Labor Hall and Literary Institute was formed in 1889 replacing the existing Trades Hall Committee. The Board's objective was to secure a meeting place for trade Unions within the city. The objectives of the Council were to protect and advance the interests of affiliated Unions and to control industrial disputes. By 1952 the title of the Council had standardized as the Trades and Labor Council of Queensland.
