Biographical entry: Sir Peter Delamothe

Summary

Items: two boxes. Shelf Location: 3L. Peter Roylance Delamothe, B.M., B.Sc., 1906-1973 was educated at Mount Carmel College Charters Towers and Sydney University. He was appointed Superintendent of Collinsville Hospital in 1932 and after war service in the R.A.A.F., he returned to Bowen and was elected Mayor and Chairman of the North Queensland Local Authorities Association in 1946. In 1960 he was elected Liberal Party M.L.A. for the seat of Bowen and was appointed Justice Minister and Attorney-General in 1963, a post he held until 1971, when he became Queensland's Agent-General in London. This material was collected as part of a life-long interest in writing a local history; it chiefly comprises copies of government files, newspapers and periodicals, hence is unique only in its collation. A number of books, pamphlets and periodicals which formed part of the collection have been distributed to appropriate sections of the Library; a location list is available for this material. Archive holdings are arranged in numbered folders with cover titles.
