Journal 20 April 1865-29 January 1868. Daily entries, incontinuous, photocopy of typescript, pp.75, also typescript summary of journal pp.5. Covers voyage of the Pera from Southampton to Melbourne, a visit to north Queensland, and from March 1866, an account of the founding of a cattle run and sugar plantation near Tully, called The Plains, later renamed Bellenden Station. Gives details of pioneer life, coastal settlements notably Card-well and Townsville. From July 1867 it covers another venture at Alexandra Plantation via Mackay, including the planting of cotton and later sugar; mentions Pacific Islanders, social observations of early Mackay, etc. NQ.994.303 DAV
