John Fletcher worked for the Queensland Meat Export Company to 1916 and later served on the Commission to investigate development possibilities in the Northern Territory in 1937, and on the Royal Commission on abattoirs and meatworks in 1945; he was a member of the Board of the Commonwealth Bank 1951-1952, and general manager of the Gladstone Meatworks from 1917.
