Summary
Violet Bowring, a New Zealand born painter, studied in Wellington and London; in 1950 she settled in Townsville following the death of her husband Walter, who was also a painter. Violet Bowring died in Townsville in 1980. The collection contains photographs of family groups and ports., copies of many of her paintings and sketches, and also some by Walter Bowring. A number of newspaper extracts, certificates, awards and mementos have been copied and inserted in the collection. 90 prints, 4 albums, negatives held.
