Summary
The Museum contains one of the major collections of its kind in Queensland, comprising museum pieces, Aboriginal artifacts, natural history exhibits and written records, including documents and papers, newspapers, rare books on early Queensland, pamphlets, the Society's own historical papers, maps, charts, and photographs. Indexes are available. Photocopying facilities are not available at the Museum; arrangements may be made with the Society to have copying done locally. The Society meets on a monthly basis, visitors are welcome, and historical papers are presented by local members and visiting speakers. These papers are generally printed for local distribution. The museum is open to the public Monday-Friday 10.30AM-4.00PM, Saturday 3.00-4.00PM, admission:

The following is a selective coverage of records in the Museum, listed in accordance with the arrangement of material at the time of this survey. Included is a considerable quantity of government material relating to the history of North Queensland and of Bowen in particular. These records are copies, largely secured by the late Sir Peter Delamothe, which were in time lodged with the Bowen Historical Society collection.
