Summary

The plant commenced production in 1924 as the Cairns Brewery Company, and was taken over three years later by North Australian Breweries, which was in turn absorbed by Carlton & United Breweries in 1931. C.U.B. operates as a brewer, liquor supplier and hotel owner in north Queensland, and bought out the Cairns liquor and cigarette agents, P.J. Doyle in 1938. The company secretary advised that limited records were held, some dating from 1924. They included annual reports, minutes of meetings, and some ledgers. Miscellaneous company documents including certificates of corporation, hotel leases (Cairns and elsewhere), and contracts. Company correspondence, dating from 1970 only held, also some payroll sheets of a recent nature.
