Summary

This well-known north Queensland merchant firm was founded in March 1899 with its head office in Townsville, and branches in principal centres throughout the region. It continues to operate under new management, as a wine, spirit and general merchant, with branches in Bowen, Charters Towers, Ingham and Mount Isa. Some records were destroyed in May 1927 when fire demolished the company's Flinders Street offices. The following records are held at the company's office at 165-171 Perkins Street, South Townsville, 4810.

Photographs. An important collection of portraits and groups of management and staff, hotel properties in north Queensland and scenes of the office fire in 1927. Portraits include the company founders Messrs Cummins and Campbell and Joseph Pease, whose company was taken over by Cummins and Campbell Ltd. The photograph collection has been copied for the Delamothe Collection of North Queensland History, James Cook University. Printed records include, Cummins and Campbell Monthly Magazine (New Series), No. 1, vol. 1, April 1925-No.12, vol. 31, December 1955, 31 bound volumes.
