Summary
The station formed part of the original Valley of Lagoons lease of 1861, which was subdivided in the 1870s. Green Vale was part of the Atkinson family company holdings from early times, and in 1914 Henry John Atkinson settled there. In recent years the Greenvale lease has been subdivided and the Atkinson family founded a new homestead, which they called Lucky Downs; this collection of station records are held by Henry Atkinson, grandson of Henry John Atkinson, at Lucky Downs. Diaries, at least three diarists have maintained these records, however the late Mr James Atkinson is the principal writer. The collection spans 1922-1980, and is complete, but for the years 1960 and 1961. Entries are generally brief, and record daily station activities, visitors to the station, notes on stock, climatic details etc.; some volumes are frail notably: 1924, 1934, 1939, and for a number of years two diaries are kept by different diarists, notably for the years 1924, 1925, 1926, 1928, 1929, 1931, 1932, 1943 (1 volume has few entries), 1951 and 1952. The total collection comprises 67 volumes.
