Party: Station Records - Queensland Stations Pty Limited, 500 Collins Street, Melbourne

Summary

A pastoral and meat export company, founded by the late Sir William Angliss, who began purchasing station properties from the Queensland government in 1916. The company currently owns or holds an interest in the following Queensland beef cattle properties: Glen Prairie via Marlborough, Bluff Downs, Dotswood and Wandovale in the Charters Towers district and Miranda Downs, Stirling and Van Rook stations via Normanton though numerous additional interests have been held in the past. A director of the Company, Sir Maurice Angliss advised that the head office in Melbourne holds some historical records, including reports, minutes of meetings, business records and some climatic records of the stations, though these files would not necessarily be available to researchers. The Angliss family also holds a biography of Sir William Angliss which was published privately for limited circulation, which provides a record of the life and business accomplishments of Sir William. Sir Maurice Angliss also advised that company stations should all hold some historical records, with the possible exception of Glen Prairie, where the homestead was destroyed by fire in 1962. These stations were contacted for details of records, and the Van Rook holdings are listed herewith. Queensland Stations Pty. Ltd maintains a Townsville office at 16 Lawson Street, Mysterton Estate.
