Summary
The former Alligator Creek meatworks, and the first local meat export plant, it began operations in 1890. The present management F.J. Walker Ltd, advised that only recent records and some killing statistics for sheep and cattle, 1925-present, are held. A substantial loss of records occurred during cyclone Althea in 1971. F.J. Walker's Brisbane office held nothing further, however it was suggested that the Cordingly family of Townsville and district who were associated with the plant from early times may be able to assist researchers.
