Corporate entry: Queensland Meat Export Company Pty Limited, Ross River, Idalia, Townsville
Summary
The original Ross Freezing Plant commenced operations in 1900; the meatworks is now primarily controlled by the English company, Vesteys. The current management, which assumed control in 1956 was not able to assist with research material, with the exception of an album of fine historical photographs dating from ca. 1901, which was kindly lent for copying for the Delamothe Collection of North Queensland History, at James Cook University. For records of the former QME Co., see Victorian Public Record Office.
