Summary
The original school was the first in Mackay, and was opened in September 1871; in 1890 it became the Mackay Central Boys School and in 1932 that school was demolished and replaced by the Mackay Intermediate School. This school later became the Mackay Central State School. Few records are held, some having been destroyed by fire. Holdings include: Admission registers, covering the periods December 1871-December 1950, July 1932-March 1950, February 1951-present, 23 vols.
