Summary
The first Anglican minister was appointed to Cooktown in 1875. Cooktown is now included in the Diocese of Carpentaria, and operates as a centre of mission activity, which incorporates St. Peter's, Normanton, St. Michael and All Angels Georgetown, St. Augustine Forsayth, Christ-church Cooktown, S.S. James and John Karumba, also Coen, Laura, Croydon, Burketown, Lakeland and Weipa.
