CATHEDRAL ARCHIVES: An extensive, largely uncatalogued collection, some of a sensitive nature and closed to researchers. Contains a wide range of written and printed material, including the papers of the three bishops who have served the Townsville Diocese: Bishop McGuire 1930-1938, Bishop Ryan 1938-1967, Bishop Faulkner 1967-present. Only the McGuire papers and associated records have been organised and indexed; this was done by K.T. Livingston in the course of research for his BA Hons. thesis: Terence Bernard McGuire: Australian Catholic and Priest and Bishop Ideals (19114-1929) and Achievements (1930-1938) (g.v.). The annotated bibliography included is recommended to researchers working in this area.
