29 December 1769 Friday 29th Winds at SW and SWBW, A very hard gale with squalls, but mostly fair weather. At 7 PM wore and lay on the other tack. At 6 AM loose'd the reef out of the fore-sail and set it and the reef'd Main sail. At 11 unbent both Fore-sail and main-sail to repair and bent others and made sail under them.
