8 January 1770 Monday 8th Gentle breezes at NE and pleasent weather. At 6 PM saw the land bearing East and some time after saw a Turtle upon the water - At Noon the land extending from North to East distant 5 or 6 Leagues being the high land before mentioned and which is intersected in two places, each having the appearence of a Bay or inlet but I beleive it is only low land. Course and distance made Good sence yesterday at Noon is S. 33° East 53 Miles, Latd pr Obsern 35°..45' St C.
