27 April 1770 Friday 27th Variable light airs between the NE and NW clear pleasent weather. In the PM stood off shore untill 2 oClock than tack'd and stood in untill 6 at which time we tack'd and stood off being then in 54 fathoms water and about 4 or 5 Miles from the land  the extremes of which bore from So 28° West to N. 25°.30' East.
