Natives will give a hog of 100 Weight for one of them for Making their War & Heiva dresses &c. tho they never eat the bird — during our time we shot several which were deemd grand presents, but We thought the Powder of More Value and therefore made but little Waste of it for that use and seldom took that expensive diversion — the Cock Birds are the Most Valuable and the Back feathers are those they prize highest for their Beautiful shining Black.
