GROUND-TACKLE, (amarrages, Fr.) a general name given to all sorts of ropes and furniture which belong to the anchors, or which are employed in mooring, or otherwise securing a ship in a road or harbour; as cables, hawsers, tow-lines, warps, and buoy-ropes.
