A TRANSLATION OF French SEA-TERMS and PHRASES: G (continued) GUINDER, to sway up a top-mast. GUINDERESSE, a top-rope, used to sway up, or lower the top-mast. GUIRLANDES, the breast-hooks in a GUISPON, a brush used to pay the ship's GUITERNE, a prop or shore, used to support the sheers which are employed to mast a ship, or take out her masts. GUITRAN, a sort of bitumen, or pitch used to pay a ship's bottom. GUMES, or GUMERES, a general name given in Provence to all large ropes; as hawsers, cables, &c.
