Grappling |

A Grappling was a small anchor with four or five arms designed to gain a sure hold on the seabed. It was commonly used to anchor a boat or other small vessel. An illustration of a Grappling appears in plate IV, fig. 5 of William Falconer's Dictionary of the Marine. |
