Thomas Heberden practised medicine on the island of Teneriffe and in the city of Funchal. He was one of the earliest physicians to recommend Funchal as a sanatory resort for sufferers of chest diseases. |
Career Highlights | |
Heberden was the brother of William Heberden (1710 - 1801), an eminent London physician whose patients included Samuel Johnson and William Warburton. He shared his brother's interests in various aspects of natural philosophy, communicating between a number of papers to the Royal Society between 1756 and 1769.
