Greenslade was a Private of Marines. He was one of the twelve Marines who joined HMS Endeavour on 16 August 1768.

Career Highlights
On 26 March 1769, Preston was caught stealing a seal's skin and reported to Cook by John Edgcumbe, Sergeant of Marines. Before Cook could interview him Preston escaped, jumped overboard and drowned.
