Born: 1741?.  Died: 13 July 1785?  Portsmouth, Hampshire, England.
Richard Hutchins was 27 years old when he joined the crew of the Endeavour as an able-bodied seaman at Deptford on 17 June 1768.

Career Highlights
Despite being punished with 12 lashes for disobedience on 16 April 1769, Hutchins was appointed boatswain's mate by Cook on 1 September 1769.

He also served as coxswain of Endeavour's Pinnace and on 5 February 1771 was appointed boatswain on the death of John Gathrey of dysentery.
