11 February 1770 Sunday 11th PM had light breeze from the S.E. in the night it was Calm untill 9 AM when a gentle breeze sprung up at ENE with which we made sail to the Southward, having a large swell rowling in from that quarter At Noon was ^we were in the Latitude of 41°..6' So and distant from the Shore 11/2 League, a remarkable hillock which stands close to the Sea bore N1/2E distance 4 Leagues. At this time two Canoes came along side the Ship with whom we had some little trafick and then dismiss'd them
