At 4 PM Tacked and Stood SW untill 8 AM when being not above 3 or 4 Miles from the shore we tacked at [and] stood off two hours, then stood again to the SW untill noon when being in the Latitude of 41°..13' So and about two miles from the shore, the land of Cape Pallisser bearing So 53° West had 26 fathom water —
